Partners Duncan Harrington and James Hall describe their firm as professional and focused, but also easy-going and approachable.

Covering all areas of real estate, business and commercial law, they advise their clients on everything from conveyancing and real estate transactions to helping ordinary families who have a dispute with a builder.

In their own words, “our customers are a wide range of families, startups, small business owners, merchants, builders, developers, and entrepreneurs,” they said.

“Our team helps you with everything from setting up your business to offering ongoing legal support in all aspects of your business. We also help many of our clients with personal matters, such as transfer of property, family trusts and estate planning.”

Duncan Harrington is the Managing Partner and has been with the firm since 2014 when it operated under a different name.

A Canberra resident, Duncan says he kind of fell into law, having gotten into IT after leaving school. A career change saw him work at the ACT courthouse and decide to study to become a lawyer himself.

James Hall has been with the firm since 2018 and has been a partner since 2020 when the firm was also renamed Harrington Hall. James earned a business degree and worked in that field for a while before moving into law, first as a paralegal and then as a lawyer.

Duncan and James also love their sport, being part of the Territorians supporters group for the GWS Giants.

Both men also say they really enjoy working together and have built a great team around them as well.

“Our attorneys are all professionals in their respective areas of practice, but also creative problem solvers.”

Faraz Jafri, Partner and Zahrrah Zekrya, Attorney, assist James in litigation practice, including debt collection, commercial litigation and real estate litigation. Senior Partner Nick Chan, who has extensive experience in real estate law, assists Duncan in the firm’s ownership and conveyancing practice.

Nick is supported by Chloe Hooper and Erin Abraham, who are the firm’s conveyancing assistants. Patrick Dawson (Paddy) is their legal assistant, working across multiple practice areas, and Tyler Neiberding is their office assistant, who is the first point of contact within the firm.

Duncan and James say it’s very important to them to develop and maintain a good relationship with their customers. They also greatly value their reputation for good work.

“We strive to build strong relationships with our clients and take the stress out of dealing with attorneys, whether you’re buying a home or starting a new business.”

They also describe their business as nimble and nimble, which means they are able to respond quickly to their customers’ needs.

“Our goal is to offer advice that takes into account the unique circumstances of each of our clients, as well as business and practical realities, and to understand the need for timely and cost-effective advice.”
