Wisconsin lawyers offering free legal advice to small businesses



LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – Something that could cost businesses hundreds to thousands of dollars is being offered for free.

Wisconsin lawyers are offering free legal advice to small businesses affected by COVID-19 and the economy.

This is through a partnership between the Business Law Section of the State Bar of Wisconsin and the Marquette Volunteer Legal Clinic.

Companies can set up a one-hour consultation by Zoom or by phone.

Lawyers can help with legal matters including, but not limited to:

  • Finances and loans
  • Insurance claims / coverage
  • Leases and commercial contracts
  • Tax
  • Work and employment
  • Real estate
  • Debtor / Commercial Creditor
  • Regulatory compliance, including privacy and COVID-19 requirements

Things like litigation, entity selection and formation, or intellectual property issues are excluded from these consultations.

Meetings are available on Friday morning at 8:30 am, 9:30 am or 10:30 am.
